Positive Connections is a collaborative effort between Nami of Greater Toledo and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Ohio. The program is designed specifically for children, ages 4-17, who are living with emotional/mental and/or behavioral difficulties either within their family or are themselves struggling. The goal of POSITIVE CONNECTIONS is to help children understand emotional/mental and/or behavioral disorders, build support, increase coping skills through education, support and one–on-one mentoring.

When a family faces the difficult task of managing emotional/mental and/or behavioral difficulties it is often comforting to know that there are other children and families who are struggling with the same difficulties and who may also be confused, sad, angry or unsure.

When there are emotional/mental and/or behavioral difficulties within the family many children are often left struggling with what this means. Many times, children are not included in the healing process and do not always understand how to cope with these difficulties and related feelings of fear, anger, isolation and shame.
